1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Since the verse declares that it is only speaking of one being, then it is not stretching things to state that it is referring to three records in heaven of that single being.

The very next verse goes on to describe three seperate items that are seperate, but in agreement.

1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

There is a distinct difference between three records of one God and three seperate witnesses of that one God.

Many confuse the aspects of these verses and try to mix them up to promote polytheism.
